I realize that it's been pretty quiet around here lately, so I thought I would pop in for a moment and let you know what's been going on in my world lately.
As you may already know, in 2014, I, along with a small but dedicated team of fellow creators, committed in earnest to make our very first documentary film, a feature-length exploration of psychological trauma. What began for me as a quest to heal from PTSD, would unravel over the following six years into a much more complicated journey down the rabbit hole of my own past, wherein I would finally come to understand some of the troubling things about myself that had always perplexed me and had ultimately set me up to develop the PTSD that took my mental legs out from underneath me at the age of thirty five. At the root of it all, I uncovered a lost childhood trauma that was responsible for a great many unhelpful, life-inhibiting dysfunctions I had come to know as normal.
The recent lull in activity here on the blog coincides with my need to finally wrap the film and begin the process of sending it into the world. I am grateful for your patience as I have been working on that and wanted to stop by today to let you know that I intend to be showing my face around here a lot more in the coming weeks.
"This is a powerful film, a documentary for our troubled times. With honesty and depth, it explores, both the raw pain of trauma, and engages hope for healing in ourselves and in our communities. It is a statement that I hope our educators and policy makers will watch and learn from."
--Peter A Levine, PhD.
This film will likely be the most important thing that I create in a long while, so please be prepared to hear quite a lot about it as the rest of this year rolls by and we begin submitting it to festivals and prepare it for wider release. I will begin that incessant process now by sharing the first tease for the film (below) and by inviting you to sign up at the film's website, WhatLiesInsideFilm.com, to be sure that you are up-to-date with the most recent news and some special offerings that will be made available as time rolls by.
Thanks again for following me on this journey. I do hope you are able to find something useful along the way and can feel inspired and motivated by spending a little of your precious time with me. Until next time, I wish you well and hope you enjoy the tease!
